Hamilton '63 [p 69] / Ostendorf '98 [p 69] recommend distinguishing A61a1 and A61a2 by the amount of hair visible at the back of Lincoln's head and the visibility of the cheek. The difference between the two images is said to be greater than a stereo exposure would give. Another method: the skin fold in Lincoln's left cheek abuts the tip of the nose in A61a2 and the underside of the nose in A61a1.
